Have to say it's really refreshing to see all these positive comments about our forthcoming air show. Must be a high percentage of aerosexuals on this site! :D

One of my most bizarre and treasured Avalon moments occurred two years ago. Just being able to walk right up and under the B-52 was mind boggling. I got chatting to a young B-52 navigator standing under the bomb bay of his "work place" and asked whether they have watched "Dr. Strangelove". He did advise that this amazing film is still a firm favourite with B-52 crews. This to me is what Avalon is all about - not just watching the spectacular aeroplanes, but also chatting to the crews. All these people are immensely proud of what they do (as they should be) and they are fountains of knowledge (within the constraints of any secret stuff they know of course!). So, my recommendation to those going is don't be bashful and chat to these aircrews standing around their aeroplanes - they love their aeroplanes more than we love seeing them. It can be amazing what you can find out about their amazing world!

I so want to catch up with any of the pilots flying the squadrons of WW1 aeroplanes coming from NZ. On a side note, is it just me or do others find it bizarre that NZ has so many WW1 fighters and yet no actual modern day equivalents? No offence bro's from over the "dutch"! :D I am of course every envious that our brother Kiwi's can produce such magnificent flying machines and can't wait to see them in action!

I'm going on Friday and one of the public days - not sure which. Have a great Avalon everyone!

Cheers

Adam

"Hoping to sneak in as a "Photographic Assistant" - mind you, the amount I would learn just from spending a day with the photographer I would be assisting - well worth the work.

If that falls through - I'm looking forward to seeing everyone elses photos!

Well.....unfortunately I will now not be able to make it to Avalon at all this year :( . I will be to busy hosting my own crazy, chaotic, daily "airshow" at Melbourne Airport. I hate it when work aeroplanes get in the way of leisure aeroplanes.

That's no good Ray. Could you sneak a trade day? Are QF bringing anything to the show?
You don’t concentrate on risks. You concentrate on results. No risk is too great to prevent the necessary job from getting done- Chuck Yeager.

That's rotten luck Ray. I heard too that there will be a special contingent of hangar babes flown is specially from Oshkosh ("Ray, Ray - we miss you!").

It ain't remotely as good of course, but I will upload photos from my visit.
