Talking about Birthday pressies....

Postby Adam the Akrodude » Fri Jul 29, 2016 2:28 pm

Awhile ago I found a crowd that make "Briefing sticks". These are used by instructors to explain the unexplainable using your hands, by aerobatic pilots going through their sequences and fighter pilots trying to shoot each other down on the ground. Akro pilots use these and do something that looks like the cross-between a chicken and a rain dance to work through a aerobatic sequence. You may have noticed at a air show some freaky guy or gal walking around on the spot ducking forward and backward and waving his/her arms all over the place! So, I found this crowd online (ain't the Internet just such a fabulous place to spend money!) that do custom briefing sticks. I sent some photos of a Decathalon and the Pitts S-2A and this is what I'm getting delivered shortly. Now I can chase the kids all around the house making aeroplane noises! I'll only ever do this when they have friends around of course. I'm at that stage where my most powerful parenting tool is the threat of "embarrassment"!

MMMMMEEEEEEERRRRRRROOOOOOOWWWWWWWW!

They are just stunning
They are more than just training aides, they are models in their own right.
What scale are they???
Do you have a site link???

I've no idea what scale they are - not big. I'm guessing either 1/48 or 1/32. They've just been released from Customs quarantine, which could mean they are in pieces! I should get them next week sometime.

Site I got these is http://www.aviatorgear.com

All sorts of goodies to spend your ill-gotten gains from - MOHAHAHA!

I should add that the Decathalon is going to a long time instructor I've known for over 16 years - he just doesn't know it yet! :D It's payback for some great stuff he's done for me over the years - emergency recovery and advanced spin training stuff that he organised years ago with another US aero's instructor that could literally save my life. This Decathalon is representative of his very own aeroplane - an absolute beauty. In my limited experience, Decathalons are the best aerobatic trainer I've had the pleasure to fly. The Pitts is for me to fly around the house in!
