Rumour has it that a certain LAME that frequents this site is in the process of developing a 3D printed Baron. Apparently he's gotten bored building F-4 kits and branching out to building his one true love - the Beechcraft Baron! (Vitual lug wrench aimed at my head inbound!)

So in an effort to get a Beech Baron model I have acquired a little, old, banged-up Dinky example with a view to re-furbing/re-finishing it.



Now.....has anyone ever attempted the refurb of a diecast metal model such as this, and if so......
- Is it viable to use Miliput to bog gaps??
- What would be the best undercoat/primer to use??
- What would be the best way to replicate the missing engine bay cover, (as can be seen, one is missing).

It might be worthwhile to talk with some of the people over on the Diecast Car Forum or see if there are any Articles in the Diecast Magazine on refurbing Diecast Models.

My guess (based on experience from years ago wasting my youth fixing up cars) is it would be like refurbing a real car in that the good Automotive/metal bogs (the old Plastibond for example had a high Styrene percent content and could also be thinned from an almost solid to being able to be poured such as for moulding - I know I did it back then just ask Graeme but there were quality issues if you didn't get the thinning right) and paints and techniques should work well on a Diecast model.
