I actually built that minicraft electra years back,, all I can remember was bad props/spinners / engines? so you reckon the 1/72 welsh models is worth having?

but the Welsh model looks a little odd to me, dont know what it is..maybe the nose / cockpit shape?

I had an Electra / Orion conversion once, but sold it to Ray Sepalla years ago.. I still kick myself occasionally over that!

:D :D :D and now I need another one!

Must do the Buffalo Bird along with an Aussie one. Will be keeping an eye out at Expo I think.

Then and Now L118 Electra

Slight typo on your part Ray - it's L-188 not L-118! (confusing it with C-118 perhaps?)

can anyone name the last Australian operator of the Electra???

Charrak Air Freight (Avalon) leased N360Q in 1996, is that your answer?

Qantas fleet left in 1970.
TAA and Air New Zealand fleet gone in 1972.
Ansett gone in 1984.

Can't find any others!

Indian Ocean Airlines

I actually got a job with them but they folded before I started. At any rate, I had already accepted the posy with Qantas.

Indian Ocean Airlines

AH-HAHHH !!! You fell for your own trap TOR!

They took delivery, but never got to OPERATE it!

From the linked page:

Delivered to Indian Ocean Airlines, at Perth - August 14, 1992
Entered onto the Australian Aircraft Register as VH-IOB - September 09, 1992
Registered to Indian Ocean Airlines, Belmont, Western Australia
Did not enter service on Perth - Cocos Island - Christmas Island route as intended
Aircraft cancelled from the Australia Aircraft Register - December 14, 1992

Yeah....technically they were an operator by virtue of being granted an AOC. The aircraft was also placed on the Australian register as VH-IOB, so, for all intents and purposes they were an Australian "operator" even if just for the briefest of time ;) .
