Anyone of the four 1:72 E-3 kits you can see in the first photos would be suitable for a Qantas Boeing 707-338C as they are simply the Heller 707 mould with the windows filled in, (and some extra bits added that are E-3-specific). You simply combine the Heller/Airfix kit with a Hawkeye 1:72 Qantas 707 decal sheet, (be it the "V-jet" or "Flying Kangaroo" schemes...Hawkeye do both). The good thing is that the Hawkeye decals come complete with all windows.

Thanks Ray. That was the kind of thing I was thinking of, but I'm not familiar enough with those kits to be sure. Should I PM you to talk turkey?

Righto, thanks again Ray. I'll get one off to you in the morning, when my head is likely to be less soggy than it is now. Looking at one of the E-3 kits, and possibly one or both of the Transport Wings kits.

Did you want me to post some photos of the E-3 kit contents before you decide, that way you not what you are getting.
Alas both the Transport Wings models have already be taken, (and good riddance to them cause in my opinion they are horrible).

Thanks for the update, Ray. Yeah, post photos if you can be bothered. I trust you though, and if you say I can turn one into a reasonable facsimile of a Qantas 707, then I'm happy with that. I'm no rivet counter, so it only has to be close enough for gubmint work.

OK, I will post some photos for you tomorrow.
Actually, the reason I have so many Heller/Airfix 1:72 E-3s is because I was planning on building them as 707s. Technically it is a very accurate kit for a 707-300 representation, (right down to the correct number and placement of turbo compressors above each engine). I am not a big fan of cast-in windows, so I got the E-3s instead of the Heller 707s so I didn't have to bog and sand all those windows.

Kev. I used the Airfix E-3 kit to build my (Ex QANTAS) B707 with Hawkeye decals

OK Kev, so here is the Heller 1:72 E-3 kit contents:

And here are your 1:72 Qantas Boeing 707=338C decals options:

If you plan to source and use the Roodecal sheet, be careful.... as even the youngest sheet will now be rather old, and prone to break-up/shatter once they hit the water. Preventative measures will need to be taken.

Thanks for the photos, Ray! Is that recessed surface detail I see? If so, I wasn't expecting that! I figured it would be a full rescribe job. Love those.

Thanks for the tip about the decals. I tried using a Roodecals sheet for my aborted Qantas 767, but it wasn't a great experience, and I had to switch to an Ansett bird using a Hawkeye sheet. Are you selling the decals too?
