Model Expo prep

Postby tor lives » Sat May 30, 2015 9:21 am

OK guys,
A week to go to Model Expo :D
The A/CAM display will be set up on Friday night......so if you have a contribution for the display, Friday night would be best for drop-off, (or if that's not possible, Saturday morning at the latest) .
This year is the inaugural year for "our" new competition category. It is worth noting that the Model Expo Committee established the new category on our request. They have done their part, now we need to be doing ours by ensuring it's success. It would be great to see heaps of models in the new category. I am entering a bunch of crappy, little, old refurbed/repaired models, (and thanks to Damo and Wally for their assistance with instruction sheets). They are certainly not competition standard, but the objective here is to have as many models on the table as possible.
Also lets not forget the "Airliner" Category. Once again, I will be entering purely to make up the numbers this year, (another old refurbed kit....the FW Condor).
A/CAM is sponsoring both categories this year, so it would be great to see both categories brimming over with entries :D
I would like to have an A/CAM members lunch as we did last year, (that seemed to go down pretty well). A/CAM will be shouting it's members as per last year, and I am thinking that Saturday would be the best day.....thoughts???
Finally guys, the Model Expo Committee is in need of volunteers across the weekend, so if you are able to offer your assistance in judging or any other way, please contact Rene or Ed.
See ya at Expo lads.
TOR
PS:
Leigh....I will have some money for you, for those decals
and
Wally...I will have that kit for you that you wanted to purchase
As a memory prompt.....was I supposed to be bringing anything else for anyone else????

May I just re-iterate that the Committee is hoping a couple of extra guys will step up this year as assistants. Usually an hour of your time is all that's needed. Particular areas that are always in need of a few volunteers are
1. - Front desk staff - find Mike Rennie and ask for a time slot.
2. - Selling raffle tickets - as above
3. - Judging - wait around after closing on Saturday. it doesn't matter if you haven't done judging before, you will be paired with an experienced person. Any questions, find Mic Bradshaw during Expo and ask him.
Enjoy your Expo!

I'll be there Sat morning. I've just had a factory inspection by товарищ Asimova and been informed that the Party is not happy with my lack of progress on the Yaks

I expect to be working on them right down to the wire. Failure to meet Party requirements will result in deportation to somewhere very cold with very thin blankets and even thinner watery soup - not to mention the very big hungry dogs with big teeth wanting to bite off parts of my anatomy!

Long live the Revolution and now back to work on the Yaks!

Hi guys,
Just as a time-saving tip.....don't forget to jump on to the Model Expo website, (available via our "links" page), and fill out your competition entry form in advance. Very convenient indeed.....thanks Model Expo Committee :D

OK folks,
Slight change of plan. I will now not be at the Model Expo venue Friday night, but rather Saturday morning. So this is when the A/CAM display will be set up.

As many here may know, I have spent the last week in hospital, just getting out today and have decided to see if I can get some of my builds ready for expo.

I have read through the Expo Handbook and have a basic idea of what will be needed in terms of references, but how much is too much or too little? What is the minimum package you supply with each model and is presentation of the references important (i.e. do they need to be in a folder or is some sheets stapled together enough?

I have 6 or 7 models on the maybe list at the moment, depending on what I can get done while I continue my recovery over the next few days.

Thanks for the feedback.
