Last pic's before heading to the paint shop. Added all the bits underneath the Yak's (lots of very draggy bit's and pieces underneath!), the cockpit annunciator panels on top of the instrument panels and canopy rails in the case of the Neomega Yak - which will have the canopy open.

Very fiddly eye destroying work on these tiny 1/48 kits. I so so need to build a 1/32 "man scale" aeroplane after this!

Comrade Asimova reporting from the People's Glorious Mini Yak Factory!

The Yaks have moved to the paint shop and have received primer and first coats. Comrade Адам is behind schedule though and will have to double his efforts. He has been warned that failure to meet Expo timeline will result in deportation for re-education in one of our Motherland's glorious winter retreats in Siberia - you know, where the big doggies are! He has ensured me that this will not be necessary and I am heartened by his enthusiast response!

Yaks grounded for Expo!

Epic fail as my kids would say! With the flu I've had this week, everything just went to hell in a hand basket. The drop-dead moment was passing the entry time of 12:00PM Saturday and having the rear instrument panel pop out of the "Resident Evil" Yak when pressing the centre part of the canopy onto the fuselage

This Yak which has fought me every inch of the way was almost hurled at a scaled Mach One at the wall! It took every last ounce of willpower to stop me from doing this - after working on these Yaks till 12:00AM the night before and getting up Oh-Dark-Hundred Hours Saturday morning! It just proved too much of a challenge building two very challenging kits at the same time. There is always next year I know, but I'm still ultra-pissed off .

So, down I went to Expo yesterday with my tail between my legs thinking I've very much let the team down. What did cheer me up was seeing the great A/CAM display and the large number of entries for the Civvie cat! Also very happy to see that wonderful Comet of Eric's get the top gong for this momentous first time event - bloody well done and very well deserved mate!

So, here's how far I got yesterday with the Yak's. I'll now take the time to finish them properly - when I can face those two torturous models again!

RE Yak - note rear instrument panel on the wing - GRRRRR!



DOSAAF Yak - 2-3 hours of work off being finished.



Back to "Man Scale" for me after the Yaks. Not enjoying 1/48!
