Those of us who know the story should recognize the diorama instantly. It will be a good case of schadenfreude, even after all these years.

I've been hoarding an Airfix HS125 for decades in the hope of being able to make it as VH-CAO. Apart from being a magnificent aeropllane, it was the aeroplane that I made my first flight in. DCA staff could hitch rides in departmental aircraft so I took the opportunity to hitch a ride on a training flight from Melbourne to Sydney and back, just for the fun of it. One of my best memories. I had to take half a day's leave to do it though.

So, like Knotty, I'm wondering if it would be possible to buy a set of those lovely decals.

Thanks Wal. What with all the requests for those decals it looks as though they might be able to hold a VH-CAO category at Expo next year.

Not sure whether or not I'll be at Expo this year. If so, it will only be on the Monday. I'll have to check with our mate Wegie who no doubt has a few surplus Fw190, Bf109 and P-47 kits that he needs to offload at the swap and sell.

By my reading of the Expo rules what you have is a diorama not a vignette.

VIGNETTE:
A cameo of a story, featuring 2 to 6 figures on a small base with simple scenic effects.
a) It can include – hand held or personally portable equipment, a horse or large animal, small livestock.
b) It cannot include – full buildings, large equipment, full vehicles, aircraft or ships.
c) If the scenic effects dominate the figures the model may be classified as a Diorama.

Just as a general rule, yes, captions are allowed - what ever size you like, within reason.
My own opinion is that for diorama or vignette to pass the test of being really effective, the less caption the better. I do appreciate that there will be many instances where specialised knowledge will make a diorama much more meaningful and this is where a caption is good.
