1/32 Gloster meteor F8

A place for our military aviation modellers to show their stuff. It may not be civil but it still has a home here

1/32 Gloster meteor F8

Here are photos of my 1/32 Gloster Meteor F.8 as flown by Pilot Officer Geoff Collins, 77Sqn RAAF, Kimpo Korea, 1952 during the Korean War. Will be in attendance at expo this year along with a couple of other recent completions (although not in the civil section that's for sure)

For some history and info about Geoff, have a look at this link.

The model: HK Meteor F.4, extensively converted to an F.8 using the Fisher Model and Pattern resin kit.

What is the missing link between these two?

I can almost hear the "Blue Note" resonating from your model!

I friend of mines father flew the Meatbox in Korea (just after the war finished) then flew the Sabre here and at Butterworth. He lost three friends in the Sabre due to botched ejection seat failures. There is I was told a RAAF song they used to sing about the "Blue Note" of the Meteor - probably in the mess after a couple of pints! The "blue note" is a jazz term of course.

Yes it will be epic Les.

I reckon there will be a long line of RAAF jets in the large scale category. I will have the Meteor, and Sabre there, Les with his Vampire, anticipating that Bruce will have his Hornet finished and looking at my upcoming roster, will potentially have the Super Hornet finished as well. Who is going to do a Mirage?
