Hasegawa 1/48 P-51D Mustang

I built this one primarily as a test-bed for using Alclad, and as such its bling-factor has been deliberately maxed-out. I've posted a photo of it in another thread on here, so it may look familiar. The decals are from Eagle Strike, except for the red walkway markings on the flaps, which came from the kit decals (the Eagle Strike ones were both for the port side!). I kept the canopy closed because I couldn't get it to sit convincingly in the open position, but it doesn't fit all that impressively when closed either. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out overall, despite there being a few flaws. Anyway, on with the photos!

That's gorgeous mate. I have 5 x 78th FG P-51's to do including Big Beautiful Doll. I have some Tamiya kits stashed for these planes. How was the fit of the checker decals on the nose? Once again Kev lovely work :)

Thanks Paul. The decals are actually designed for the Tamiya kit, which by the looks of things is a bit narrower around the nose:

I had to mask and spray the missing chequers, and if you look closely, you can actually see that the white is different:

Plus, it didn't fit well around the chin intake, but I left that alone.

Thanks Ray. I'm all over the shop, really. Especially on a Wednesday. I like to use 1/48 kits to practice new techniques on, or as a test-bed for new products. In this case, it was Alclad. I'm just finishing up Tamiya's ancient 1/48 Rufe kit, upon which I inflicted the new IJN paints from AK Interactive, as well as their Paneliner range. I'll post it up when it's done.

Very nice Kev. I'd say you and Alclad are getting on just fine judging by your Mustang.
Also great to see a 78th FG bird in markings other than 'The Doll' for a change.
Cheers
