Great to see the old girl preserved and I agree it'd be awesome to see such a big plane land in Longreach :)

Great pics ray.

Apparently not going to Longreach. I'm hearing HARS rumours. Not sure if they could get it into Wollongong by air.

That's the problem.....where do yo put a 747-400 ????
I hadn't heard about HARS but there was a rumour that the Smithsonian Institute want her for display at their Dulles annex. I imagine that their interest would be the fact that she was the record breaker and current record holder for longest flight. Time will tell where she goes I guess.

going by the facebook thread it looks like going to HARS....seems abit odd to me,but they do have a few airliner in their collection.

Not quiet sure why HARS would want or even get her, (there is know direct relationship there). Maintaining a 747-400, even statically, is a BIG job and HARS has a large enough fleet to look after already. I guess we will see though.

Yeah....I don't think they would even have the hard stand space to park her. When there was talk that HARS were getting an ex-RAAF 707, space availability was an issue then, so where the hell would they put a 747-400???
