If anyone's interested

Postby Cap'n Wannabe » Sat Dec 06, 2014 7:31 pm

Ever since I built the ZK-CCG (Mobil Mustang), there were a few niggly little things that really annoyed me about the aftermarket decals I bought. The stripes on the wings were shown in the wrong place, the stripes on the tailplane were missing altogether, and there were no walkways for the wings.
Before I bought the decals, I started working on my own. At this stage, they're about 50% there - the fuselage and fin stripes are done. I just need to do the logos, registration, and walkways. I may or may not do wing and tailplane stripes - they're straight lines..I masked and painted them on mine.
Anyhow, I'm planning to do both the early and late versions of this scheme....the differences being the logo and lack of wing/tailplane stripes on the late version.

There will be decals for:
Fuselage and tailfin stripes
Early and late logos
Registration
Separate walkways for extended or retracted flaps.

I may even get real industrious and do a placement guide :)

Personally, I think it's a really nice scheme.
So if you're interested, let me know. There'll be 1/72, 1/48 and 1/32. Maybe even 1/24 if you ask real nice like!

Can I also grab 1:32 x 2 thanks Damo.
I was a very lucky little boy and got a lovely 1:32 Trumpy Mustang for my birthday.....I reckon she would be real specky in these colours in this scale.

No worries, gents...watch this space.

Edit - I'll be using the Hasegawa kit for the sizing..hopefully there's not too much difference..

I'll take a 1/48 set mate. I'll use my Red Pegasus ones for the early version and yours for the later version. You coulda helped me out by sizing it for a Tamiya kit of which I have heaps :P :P :P Not that it'll make that much difference apart from the dropped flaps of the Tamiya kit. Love ya work mate :)

I was just taking the piss mate. What differences there between the 2 are probably negligible as far as this scheme is concerned. Great work mate :)

Figured you were, mate. If there's 1 or 2 mm difference in the length of the model, it won't be that much of an issue in the bigger scales - it'll probably be more noticable in 1/72.
Anyhoo, got a bit more done today - just need to find the right font for the rego, and do the walkways. Not tonight - #1 daughter wants to make cupcakes to take to school tomorrow. It was her birthday today, but she's been busy with her ballet concert (which left me some time at home while she did the matinee - I went to the evening performance..)
The logo on the left is the early logo, and on the right is the late logo. The sheet will have two sets of fuselage and tailfin stripes, early and late logos, two sets of regos and walkways.

Great work big fella. I dunno bout you but I wouldn't worry bout the walkways. I'd rather paint them any way cos they'll be matt whereas the rest of the plane will be gloss. Even the stripes on the early version would be easy enough to paint. Just a thought :)
