A small update which are turning into monthly updates! How do you blokes with jobs and family find the time? I can't!!
The last month has mainly been painting the small parts like the gear, gear doors, exhausts, aerials, props and the other aerodynamic dangly devices. I finished the gear tonight so hope to install on the weekend. I have place steel pins in the main gear to give some extra strength. To give you an idea on how brittle the resin in this kit is. I test fitted the nose gear which is all one moulded piece of resin. It fell out and dropped no more than 5cm and snapped. More likely shattered. So when this thing is done, it's going into the display case and not moved.

Just a panel line wash.
I'm trying something new with the landing lights on the leading edge of the wing. The kit gives you square chunks of clear frosted resin that does not fit into the holes on the wing. So for the glass I'm using liquitex gel medium. The ship boys use this for water. It is crystal clear when dry but takes time for that to happen. As it's a gel it's a bit easier to mould. I used a small piece of scrap Photo Etch as the lens. I'll post another picture once it dries.

Wow this close up shows how rough the resin is. Doesn't look like that from 10cms away!
Have a good weekend everyone.
