A question for our QANTAS Guru(s).
Is there a place where I can find pictures of the crests worn by QF B707s. I now have a scheme and rego for my Heller B707 kit.
I will be doing it as VH-EBU, it wore 3 "city of.." titles during its service; Broken Hill, Wollongong and Parramatta. I am interested in the "City of Wollongong" name as I grew up there.
Most pictures of EBU don't show the Wollongong titles and the crest are hard to see anyway. Would there be a place where I could source the crest from?
EBU had the distinction of being the the first to wear the red/ochre scheme I believe and it also ended its life as USAF E-8C 93-0597. E-8C JSTARS, tail number 93-0597, assigned to the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing, experienced a near catastrophic fuel tank over-pressurisation during aerial refueling. The aircraft terminated its mission and returned to Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. The aircraft has since been dismantled and did not fly again.
I will be building USAF E-8C 93-0597 as it is about to be released on a new Wolfpak sheet "72-077 Bandits".
So time to clear the benches for 2 1/72 B707 builds
This also give me an idea for a group build or perhaps display them of "then and now". Build an aircraft (civil or Military) that started life in Australia (Airline, Defence or civil operator) and was then sold to other operators and then model it in one of its later schemes.
