Rome wasn't built in a day fellas..the purpose of sites like this are to grow the civvie modelling fraternity by promoting our own models and flushing out others who have an interest in it. Brad, I've had nothing to do with Expo, I realise you have, but like most things in life if there's a due process then so be it, we abide by it. We have a table this year, next year we have a table and a few more models, the year after we have a bigger table and more models, the year after that we have a much much bigger table and way more models..I'm more focused on the long term, and if we can show steady growth over a number of years I think that demonstrates more in terms of our commitment and also demonstrates to the good folk at Expo and our sponsors of A/CAM that we are in this for the long haul.. Having said that, I appreciate your enthusiasm for the civvie side of it.. But just be cool.

Bit like negotiating an EBA, your not going to get everything the first time round, but over time you negotiate a deal that benefits the workers AND the company..

As there won't be a judged category this year, for next year, is there a rough draft of the judging criteria being drafted?
Will it be posted here for discussion by us, and eventually refined to form a proposal that will be presented to the expo committee for the formation of a new category for Expo 2015?
Will we be looking at different scales, OOB, enhanced and modified classes?
I see a few questions that should be discussed before a new category proposal is presented to the Expo committee.
If this gets big enough, it could even expand into VH reg aircraft and O/seas aircraft as 2 separate categories.
We can divide into 1/72 and smaller to cater for the airliner modelers, and 1/71 and larger for the GA modelers. Of course there will be some crossover in scales, but it seems to be a separation point of different arenas of civvy aircraft.
These are just some points that might need to be discussed. There will be many others.

Hey mate, and welcome on board, it's great to have you here.
You are indeed correct in that the proposed Civil Aircraft category is a complex discussion and will need to be worked through methodically if best possible outcome is to be achieved for all stake holders'. Rest assured that all opinions will be canvassed and considered before any formal submission is made to the Model Expo Committee. We have to do this right if we are to be taken seriously.

Capt; we're not talking about Rome, we are talking about a model category in a show. I only have to look at some of the categories to see that a promise of at least 10 models is more than enough to get a category, especially considering the original idea in breaking up categories to axis, allied and jet aircraft was to reduce category size. So don't go thinking 30 models for 1 category would be better.

No need for a formal proposal, we are not dealing with BHP here, we're dealing with 8 blokes from IPMS who run a model show in their spare time. A phone call and email with proof of our models already built should be plenty. Let's start small with 1 category and if things progress I'm sure the Expo guys will look at breaking the category down as they have done with others. I wouldn't bother with things like VH and O registered aircraft, it's too specific and would create a problem for scrutineers. Stick to more general break downs. Yep, good points Brad, I have to admit you know more about this stuff than I, all I was saying is if there is a certain protocol we should follow it. I stand by what I say though.. The civvie section can and will only get better..

I'm not sure if I will get to Expo this year but if I do it looks as though there will be some models of interest to me. Good luck with it.
