Good news ,

Wayne is at the Queen Elizabeth Centre in Ballarat for rehabilitation, and today he took his first walk using a frame, the physio thinks that he might be able to use crutches soon, that is a real breakthrough.

If you had seen how disabled he was only 9 days ago, he has come a long way & thanks to the 'never give up' attitude he has he just might make it. And start scale modelling again.

The Doctors and Nurses at the Ballarat Base Hospital have been great, and all your kind healing thoughts sent his way have also helped.

I will be in visiting him again tomorrow, I will keep you all posted.

Thanks again,

Yvette

I called in to see Wayne in his new accommodation this afternoon. He was sitting up on the bed reading a magazine. He says that he has been out exercising and he looks and sounds a lot better than he did a week ago.

On the down side, while I was there his tea was delivered by a nurse who said something about working in a hospital but not eating the hospital food. This is what Wayne got to eat this evening. Looks tasty, doesn't it? Yummm.

I'm sure that Wayne will be working extra hard on his rehabilitation with encouragements like that to urge him on.

Hi all,

Wayne should be online on this Forum on Sunday, I will take the laptop into the QE centre, they have wifi available.

He will be able to tell you first hand about his experience, and that he probably won't be coming home for another week or so.

He is walking now with the aid of a walking frame, and will soon be using crutches, we have to hope that soon he will be able to walk unaided, but for now that he can walk is great news.

His right hand movement is getting a bit more refined and he can almost sign his name like he used to.

Stroke is a terrible, cruel illness that has robbed Wayne of his independence, in a second it was gone, with no warning, but lasting consequences.

He is fighting back as I know he can, and I am sure he will be back modelling soon.

Thank you again for all your wishes of support, it sure is lonely here without him.

Cheers Yvette

Hi guys,
I've finally been able to use Yvettes laptop and it's strange feeling after not being near a computer for quite a while.

I'd like to thank all the members who have posted get well wishes on the forum, they are much appreciated and a big thanks to Graeme for alerting the forum members.

Progress is at a sloth like pace and I get impatient (as usual) when my right leg won't play ball.

It's a very humbling feeling to realize how quickly a fully fit persons lifestyle can be taken away from them.

The Prof (Leigh) has been keeping me amused by fronting up at visiting hours with his latest 'care package' from Hannants of his newest resin treasure along with a decal sheet he grabbed for me of Kiwi Corsairs, I have no idea when that model will be built either.

As my right arm is going into protest mode from all the typing, I think I'll have a wee rest.

Cheers,
Wayne

Really good to hear from you Wayne. Keep up the steady progress mate, so that you can get your arse back to the Mrs and model desk ASAP.
