BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I would hope the squirrapotmus could go better than the F-4 given the said F-4 is over 40 years old. Let's hope the knobs designing/building it have learnt a thing or 2 in the last 40 years yeah  I guess 1 thing they didn't learn how to do is making 'supposedly' awesome plane look any good

You're a brave man Paul. You do realise the LM corporation is now almost as powerful as Coca Cola and McDonalds! I'm now worried you'll have,a couple of pipe wielding LM goons visit you in the middle of the night!
I reckon the US aerospace industry has learnt a thing or two since the Phantom was released. I've faith that the 35 will get the job done if tasked to do so. Agreed it is hard to get inspired to build any of these wonder machines from a modelling perspective. I am tempted to have a crack at that goofy shiny/almost metallic paint - that is weird stuff.

I saw that earlier today Wally. Lets hope he's wrong for our sake. Though being a co designer of the F-16, I doubt he's a deadshit :o :| :| :| :| :| :|

Latest I've read on the F-35 program here is that our first one is in the paint shop - quite a process in itself.

https://www.f35.com/news/detail/raaf-f-35a-au-1-revealed

Also, in the latest issue of AA, the F-35B is being discussed at the highest level here for potential use on the LHD's. Abbott himself is pushing this idea for discussion - very interesting! I was absolutely slated on another Aussie modelling site for suggesting that the LHD's were very limited having no air cover or potential air power projection not having fixed wing assets on-board.

So, it now appears a much greater role is either wanted or envisaged for the LHD's - that is at least the desire within the present government. Early days, but at least it's being discussed. Should it happen, it will not be until well into the 2020's.

Here's some interesting articles on how the F-35 is integrated into the "network" - from a USN perspective. As the RAAF works so closely with the USN, some of how the 35 will be employed will in some respects follow what the USN does - from a network perspective - where you see E-2, I guess just think Wedgetail.

I know a few of you guys are anti-F-35. That's all cool. I'm excited by this amazing piece of tech because the decision makers and users themselves are so excited by it. Make no mistake, this is a massive jump in capability in this region. The F-35 brings a enormous amount of capability to a fight.

Some insight into Australian F-35 op's. Interesting bringing in the current Ukrainian issue.

Here are some happy F-35 users - just for Paul (who will no doubt refuse to watch these vids!) :D

More unhappy users - NOT! I do hope our LHD's will be re-configured for F-35 "Bee" use - to make them a bit more useful and relevant!
