And I guess if this were a model ship site that would trump a "jumbo jet" but alas....... :D

So, what did those of us who watched "Jumbo Jet" think? I gave it 5 out of a possible 5 High Bypass Turbofans!

- I had no idea of the very high cruise speed possible of the 747.
- The personal interviews were fantastic!
- I really enjoyed seeing all that early footage right from construction of Boeing's 747 assembly plant, the early test program, etc.
- I had no idea of the early issues with those engines - thought those guys running towards that engine that blew up on the ground with fire extinguishers were pretty brave - I would have been running in the other direction I think!
- Pushing the prototype 747 into the flutter regime took big balls of steel.
- The 9/11 Airforce One "Angel" segment was fascinating - the max angle of climb t/o, hearing about other potential hostile a/c on a possible collision course with Airforce One - turned out to be benign, but all this must have had the pulse rate at max for those on-board. Standard evasive technique for the drivers is to push the go levers forward and out run the contact - I had no idea that huge "pussycat" of an aeroplane could go so fast - just sub-Mach One according to the program.

I recorded most of it and will watch it without interruption from the wife and kids at a later date. Very good show - very impressed! Even my wife got into it - that is saying something!

Cheers

I had it earmarked to watch, but alas, ended up watching Steven Segal beating to crap out of a bunch of people in his well-mannered, soft-spoken way. I had to confess..the guilt and shame were driving me insane!
Ray, I completely understand if this is grounds for banishment...I don't know what I was thinking!
Pretending to do it TAC style with the big boys since 1987
Also, we don't need no steenkin' VLATs!

Dude, you're aerosexual quite enough I think! In fact, watching this sort of program could have adverse effects on you :D . I'll put in a good word for you Damo - I'm sure all will be forgiven - in time! Now, go off and whip yourself 50 times with a wet teabag!

Fingers crossed it will be repeated. Seriously any aeroplane program that can hold the attention of my wife for more than 5 minutes gets the 5 out of 5 High Bypass Turbofan award from me! It must have looked pretty sad from the perspective of a fly on the wall - (Me) - "Hey look, they put a bloody big telescope on a 747!" Oh check it out - they put a freakin' huge laser in a 747!" (Wife, looking up from her iPhone) - "Yeah, cool!" - then eyes back to her iPhone!

Cheers

The hugs and kisses was watching an aircraft program when she's not into aircraft? Hmmm, I think you're going to get presented with a 'honey do' list shortly....and there is nothing wrong with a little Steven Seagal.

Not sure what is worse here, watching Steven Segal, or admitting it to us

best Segal movie Executive Decision, where he gets killed in the first part of the movie, going from the Military Passenger F117 to a Jumbo at cruise height and speed, so realistic I expected to see the USAF converting the F117 fleet overnight
only other good one for about 10 seconds is Under Siege where Erika Eleniak jumps out of the cake

My dad use to work with a bloke who was named Jordan Tate. He use to get flak for that one...and Under Siege is a great movie..."where you going?" "make Honolulu glow in the dark"...."Outstanding!"

I remember when that came out and it was marketed in a way that you thought Segal was in the whole movie. It was a shock to my mates who only went as they were fans of his. haha

Indeed. We destroyed a VHS tape (remember those?) by repeatedly rewinding that over and over again. The major star of that movie was the Mighty Mo. It had bigger guns.
You don’t concentrate on risks. You concentrate on results. No risk is too great to prevent the necessary job from getting done- Chuck Yeager.
