What Phantoms are to HRTPaul, F-105's are to me. The "5" is a bit of a obsession with me. I've volumes of books, prints on the wall at home, an actual F-105D throttle and gone so far as to annoy a legendary F-105 driver by the name of John Piowaty with plenty of questions. Piowaty took out some spans of the Paul Doumer bridge in 1966/67.
Here is the aeroplane that was the war up in RP6 during Rolling Thunder. I give you the Republic F-105D Thunderchief (Thud by those who flew and worked on it). This model represents Col. Jack Broughton's "Alice's Joy". Broughton was infamously sacked as Vice Wing Commander of the 355TFW at Takhli, Thailand over the Turkistan incident. Broughton burnt the gun film from one of his fellow pilots after the staffing of the Russian vessel Turkistan after being fired on by AAA by this vessel.
I am in complete and utter awe of those who flew this thundering beast of an aeroplane into that hell that was RP6 Nth Vietnam.
