Attached are some photos of the Boomerang masquerading as Smithy's Altair. As they show, the blue is quite light, supporting the pilot's memory of Powder Blue. The other two images are stills from a 2min.-47 sec. clip from the movie. The tandem seating arrangement appears to be a mock-up as is the two bladed propeller for ground sequences. The clip can be viewed on Australian Screen, film Smithy. Top images courtesy Dick Hourigan.

So the first model I am preparing for the display is the Concorde that stared in "Airport 79 the Concorde".
She is the old Entex 1:100 kit and she will be wearing the rather generic colours of the fictional Federation World Airways.

You can check her out in "Member's Works in Progress".
Following the Concorde, I will be completing a long-dormant 1:100 Nitto 707-320C in the colours of Trans Global Airlines from the original "Airport" movie. Decals for both these movie jets will be custom-made.

Interesting to note, Ray, that that particular Concorde is the same one that crashed in 2000.
Pretending to do it TAC style with the big boys since 1987
Also, we don't need no steenkin' VLATs!

G'day Damo,
Yep....if you check out my build in "works in progress" you will see reference to that, and the custom decals I have had done for her.

i have another idea, i have been planning to refurbish my TAA A300.

I found a set of FedEx A310 deals in the stash. Pretty sure they will fit the A300. So I will be doing the A300 that Tom Hanks takes a ride in, in Cast Away.

Best example of product placement I have ever seen in a movie (eg Fed Ex, Wilson soccer balls, and GE CF6 high bypass fan engines that apparently can still run at full thrust while separated from the aircraft and floating on water :D )
Dam good idea for our display though, (and Anthony Wilkinson will be impressed cause he works for Fed Ex).
