Paging 727 modellers

Postby hrtpaul » Fri Jun 13, 2014 7:00 pm

Hey peeps. I'm currently doing a 727 that'll be a TAA or Ansett machine. The question I have is how do you guys put the stripe decals around the engine? I did think of putting the decals on first and then the engine but then i'll be left with a gap that I'd normally fill between the engine pylon and the fuse. On some schemes I'll have the same dilemma with the horizontal stab. If the solution is gonna require any sort of modelling skilll I might have 6 Airfix 727s' with decals for sale LOL TIA

An example of what I mean

That's easy, just paint it on.

I decal then put engine on Paul... Making sure of course first that she fits like a finger in the proverbial... Sorry, probably doesn't help..then again, I'm not trying to be worlds greatest modeller either.
It's hard for me to get used to these changing times... I remember when the air was clean and the sex was dirty..

The only other option left is to carefully cut the decal and lay it on around the engine. Measure twice, cut once!

Nah just dive in. If I was going to use the decal I'd go for cutting it up.

Not enough room for error for me Brad. I'll continue to butcher (*puts on blue and white apron*) these nacelles to try to get em to fit better. At least it's not an expensive kit if I screw it up :)

I think I've sorted the engines and the tail. It's close enough for an airliner. They're just sitting on at the moment. Just gotta do the wing fences and then she'll be ready for primer :)
