Mate I'm not playing silly word games with you. It is unnecessary for me to explain in the paperwork that 'enemy aircraft' is relevant to the period of time in which that aircraft flew too. I've been involved in running model shows for a long time, where we have had trophies for best axis, allied, jet, prop, RAAF and Australian aircraft and no one has every had an issue working out what applies to what. Will there be grey areas, sure. Finland before it became a a co-belligerent with Germany, fought against Russia while buying British aircraft. However if anyone thinks I'd go around checking if a Finnish Hurricane or Blenheim in the competition is from the Winter War, you'll be completely missing the point of the model show.

With the application of a little common sense and knowledge, I'm positive all modellers are able to work out what constitutes an enemy aircraft since they've been able to work out what an allied aircraft is for the last 10 year and at Model Expo.

So would I be correct in assuming that anything VH- registered (or G- registered prior to 1929, provided they were owned and operated in Australia) would be ineligible for Best Australian aircraft?

Use your common sense and a broad definition of Australian and you'll figure it out for yourself.

Well, the inference I'm drawing is that any Australian aicraft from any period, civil or military, is eligible for Best Australian aircraft, whereas to win Best Enemy aircraft you must enter a military aircraft from some very specific timeframes. Personally, I would have made the category along the lines of Best Other Country, thus not limiting the field so much, 'cos after all, not everyone builds military models..but hey, what do I know..
