Next on the Lockheed production line will be a LC-130 with a couple of enhancements. It is the Italeri kit released by Testors. Here is my progress so far
Image

I built new cabinets and Nav station for the cockpit

And added flaps from Attack Squadron

I am also replacing the kit engines with correct length ones from Ron's Resin
Image

The skis are from Cutting Edge
Image

One thing the Cutting Edge set does not give is the fairing behind the nose wheel well, so I made one up
Image

I am replacing the kit exhausts will resin parts modified with to give some belief of depth
Image

Image

I also added the some ribbing which on the actual aircraft but only shown on the kit as raised detail
Image

After some priming issues I finally got it ready for paint
Image

And the paintwork has started with walkways and lower fuselage
Image

This was masked
Image
Image

And the international Orange applied which is not drying

Image

That's it for now

Thanks Paul, many rolls of tape gave themselves up for this project :D

More masking, the orange is dry enough. though I know there will be some touch ups as when I had to reposition a piece of tape some of the orange came up. I will live with it and hopefully the repairs are not too dodgy.

Its a bit cooler here today so the final coat of Gunze Engine Grey will take a while longer to dry.

And the masking is off

The orange only came up in a couple of places and fortunately under the wings so it the fix will be hidden mostly. Some other paint creep under the masking which should be hidden by walkway striping. I shall let is sit for a while before re-masking to fix up the issues.

Thanks!

So today was a mask and paint day, I was hoping to get some decals going on but it did not happen.

I started with the wheel wells and wheels

Image

The exhaust were painted and installed
Image

The fuel tanks, skis, doors and props got attention next. The props are now ready for the black again once the blades are masked. I also have to add black to the main gear door fairings once also masked
Image

I found a older sheet with walkway lines, so I have coated it Microsol Decal film and with test the waters tomorrow

Thanks Paul

So the treated decal sheet for the walkways did not work, they still broke up. So on to plan B, use a Sharpie!

Some masking

Colour between the lines

Remove the masking
Image

and touch up
Image

Once the paint dries I will begin the decaling phase
