A/CAM Model Expo Club Display for 2023

Postby tor lives » Wed Jun 22, 2022 1:13 pm

Hi guys,
So the planned theme for our A/CAM Model Expo display for 2023 is:
Angels of Mercy: Emergency Services Aircraft
This theme lends itself to a wide variety of aircraft including:
- Civil/Military Fire Fighting aircraft of all types, including rotary and fixed wing.
- Civil/Military SAR aircraft of all types, including rotary and fixed wing.
- Surf Rescue aircraft of all types, including rotary and fixed wing.
- Shark Patrol aircraft of all types, including rotary and fixed wing.
- Police aircraft of all types, including rotary and fixed wing.
- Coast Guard/Customs/Border Force aircraft of all types, including rotary and fixed wing.
- Civil/Military Flying Hospital aircraft of all types.
- Air Ambulance aircraft of all types, including rotary and fixed wing.
- Disaster Response aircraft of all types, including rotary and fixed wing.
- Pollution/Oil Spill control aircraft of all types, including rotary and fixed wing.

If anyone can think of anything I have left out.....please jump in with your suggestions, and I'll add it to the list.

Given the relatively obscure nature of the theme though, (certainly compared to previous years/themes), I need to start planning early if I am to ensure that we will have enough models to fill the two display tables.
So....what I need is an indication as to who plans on participating, and what you plan to offer for display, (I know we have done this before, but can we do it again please?).
Can you please advise on this thread.
The one thing I would ask is that, if you do commit, can you please follow-through.
While you guys have always come through in the past.....I am feeling a little nervous about numbers of models available to ensure display success this time around.
Thanks

Given how many kits Ray S has, I think the display is full and therefore the rest of us are let off the hook. Thanks so much to Ray for filling the display for us all

All jokes aside, cracker effort Ray S. I'd like to think I'd have my Jetranger finished and Brock with his copper MD500D. I'll try and sort out another couple during the year too hopefully :)

I was thinking the same Paul, I think we will need another table! :-)

But if you guys want to contribute, then I can fill the car with contest entries instead. I'll check the decal/kit stash for other contenders. I just remembered having kit and decals for a Firebomber TRacker as well.

Question, is a A-1J "SPAD" eligible? Reason I ask in the "Sandy" role it flew Combat SAR to escort "Jolly Greens" which would pick up shot down aircrew over Nth Vietnam, Laos and even Cambodia. A typical CSAR mission would involve at least 4 x "Sandys" and 2 x "Jollys" or "Super Jollys" plus lots of fast jets and tanker support all depending on just how far north the aircrew went down.

CSAR maybe too much of a stretch for the display, but some of the most incredible examples of bravery and self-sacrifice have occurred in this mission type. It was the Sandys as the on-scene commanders that coordinated the pickup and when the area was pacified, they'd call in the Jolly/Super Jolly. In this video (linked below), one can see the smoke screen the Sandys would lay down to help hide the Jollys from anyone shooting at them from the ground.
