I started out with control-line models many years ago. My first was the Aeroflite Cougar, with an OS 10 up front. I put a Snoopy in the open cockpit, with a pair of machine-guns up front....it looked really cool until I crashed it. I still have that engine kicking around in the shed....not sure if it'd work now, though.
Later I moved onto R/C models, and once I finish moving (got a new place with a double garage....yay!!!) I'll be able to unpack them for the first time in about 10 years!
Here's a pic of my scratchbuilt Ugly Stik. I modified it from the original plans somewhat - instead of solid balsa, it is built up from trusses, which makes it a whole lot lighter. I also faired in the engine, which I reckon makes it look sleeker. All up, it weighs a smidge over 2kg, and powered by a TS46, it goes like a cut cat..

It took around 6 months to draw the plans, and another 6 months to build..
