Well better get back to this before it drops off the "new" Threads List!

Now where was I? Ah! The Wings! To Deploy or not Deploy? That is the Slat n Flaps n Kruger Question! (Shakespear just rolled over in his Grave ... )

It was after working out how I thought (although looking at the photos again it may not be the same way?) Uros had done the 737-200 Wheel Well Rings and as I mentioned not being happy with the Engine Intake Rings. I had thought that Uros had made the Rings by either cutting or punching concentric circles out of Plastic Card to make the Rings. But after a number of attempts trying to do that without producing anything acceptable I was going through the packets of Tube i had while chatting to Graeme and after choosing a suitable outside diameter Tube and then sanding the inside of it to reduce the wall thickness I carefully sawed off a thin "Ring" and again sanded it smooth to produce what I thought was finally an acceptable Ring. Tried the same again and it seemed reproduceable and acceptable.

So ... when it came to the Engines I tried a similar process with an appropriate sized Tube but after sanding the interior I sanded the exterior to a bit of a conical shape before sawing off. As I mentioned I also wasn't happy with the angle of the Intake Ring so sanding it a bit helped "land" the Ring onto to Airfix Engine. I've only just bogged them up after that so yet to sand them to see how it looks so it could still be a total (well maybe not total) disaster so don't go taking my word for it just yet!


I used a needle and a template to scribe rings into a sheet of styrene. Just scribe for as long as it takes to get trough. And make inner circle first.

Small update of the attempt to shape the triple slotted flaps that only ended in one sanded left Index Finger :

I have no idea of the actual size of each segment only that as indicated on the Airfix wing and then guesstimating the size of the "hidden" or "tucked in" parts from photos. However the Airfix representation of the Krueger flaps is definitely incorrect for the Advanced type as they are longer than the initial type so will be relying on photos for them.

Are you sure you didn't get them right as I thought you'd have to lengthen the Actuators anyway as they are a bit "hand in glove" (that is they move out of the outer housing before starting to rotate) aren't they so when deployed they are longer than stowed as on the Kit?

Must see if there is a "smoking gun" photo that shows what I am talking about or maybe I'm just imagining things?

OK dug this one out again and couldn't tell if some parts of the Fuselage filling had shrunk (mainly owing to couldn't differentiate surface finish of the grey Primer so I experimented by hitting it with Gloss White to see if that would show up any flaws better and it did but actually it wasn't too bad.

Photos still to be taken and uploaded later as motivation allows.
