Separate blades, Graeme. Not quite the worst modelling challenge.

So much for plan A.

When it came time to apply the Southern Skies decals I discovered they didn't fit. With a bit of testing I found that the tail decals are around 15 per cent bigger than they should be. (Either that or the kit is smaller than it should be.) So I spent a goodly portion of this afternoon scanning and resizing them and deleting the blue backing colour. Here's the end result of my struggles.

Having done all that, the decals fitted very nicely but bear no resemblance to the tail markings on a Skywest Fokker 50. The blue is far too dark and the white of the sunburst has disappeared. I'm sure some genius modeller could resolve these problems, but it ain't me. Next time you see this is will have a white tail again with Virgin written on it, which is okay because that's what happened to the real thing.

I have Southern Skies decals for Skywest Fokker 100s and Airbus A.320s, and I will be very annoyed if they prove to be as useless as this decal sheet was.

PS - I just had to check if the Southern Skies decals fitted on the F100 and the A320. Praise the modelling gods they do, which makes life a bit simpler. But I will no doubt lie awake at night trying to work out how to get the colours to come out right when I try to apply them.

Thanks for the offer WAL. It occurred to me that I could print those decals onto white decal sheet and see how that goes. That was my plan for the Fokker 100 so I thought I might try it out on the Fokker 50 decals I've made. It will involve some nifty knife work to get it to come out looking good, we'll see how that turns out. All I have to do now is wait for the white laser paper that I've just ordered to arrive in the mail.

Hi All,
The Fokker 50 decals were made for the Welsh Fokker 50 model kit.
I also Steve to make the decals for the Skywest Fokker 100 and the Airbus 320 as i used to fly on them.

Thanks Scoops for getting those decals made. I think I might have solved the tail decals for the Fokker 50 problem after a trail run. I won't be perfect but it will look fairly good. I will also know the problems that come with the Fokker 100 and A.320 decals when I come to using them. We learn through experience, don't we?
