In parallel with this have been doing much the same to the Engines and Pylons which still needed a lot of building up and shaping.

It's uphill but you're gaining ground!! You went for the gusto on this one, for sure.... Kind of hard not to "step off in it" with so many mods and corrections going on. That front area seems fraught with danger so good on you for tackling it... I've pretty much decided to just let mine be as it is oob because I don't want to get stuck in perpetual PSR and surgery. (in other words, I'm not that good of a builder yet??? )

Looks like them 727 transfers are going to work a treat on her!

I'm going to leave the Fuselage at this stage now as I'll go batty if I do any more to it at the moment. Have been chipping away at the Engines and Stabs but time to tackle the Wings and decide what to do there and also what to do around the front Wheel Well and the Nose Undercarriage.

Also should get more serious about the A300 Prototype as well as the other little "project" in the background which is really just for fun which is what it is really all about isn't it?

Gee You are observant! One Observation Merit Badge for you! I didn't think anyone would see them in the background.

Yes they were annoying me particularly the one that was ogvial (if that's the word I'm looking for?) and after seeing your great side on photos when I had them mounted on the wing I didn't think the angle of the intake ring was right on the kit so I sanded them at what I thought was the right angle and of course that flattened the "ring" so I sanded a bit more and then added new rings (which also "beefs" the nacelle up a tiny bit). Since that photo was taken I've bogged them up but haven't sanded them yet.

OK for your next Observation Merit Badge what is the little project in the background that I hope to start as a bit of fun? (I think it is visible in at least one photo.)

Ah yes! Single engined "out of the box" / "at the moment" but the "fun" part of the project dictates that it is becoming something else (and a Wiff at that!).

(To give you another hint I bought (another) one of these kits at the ScaleACT Sell, Swop, and Buy thinking I'll need two for this but now I only need one with bits from other kits. Which reminds me some of those bits i don't have so I'll have to give away another hint by placing an Ad in the Swap and Sell - oops nearly wrote "Market Place" which I might have to place an Ad there too!)

So what did you use to create the intake ring?

Graeme will probably take credit for this as I did this while talking to him on the speaker phone (even though he didn't know what I was working on while we were talking!).

It was after working out how I thought (although looking at the photos again it may not be the same way?) Uros had done the 737-200 Wheel Well Rings and as I mentioned not being happy with the Engine Intake Rings. I had thought that Uros had made the Rings by either cutting or punching concentric circles out of Plastic Card to make the Rings. But after a number of attempts trying to do that without producing anything acceptable I was going through the packets of Tube i had while chatting to Graeme and after choosing a suitable outside diameter Tube and then sanding the inside of it to reduce the wall thickness I carefully sawed off a thin "Ring" and again sanded it smooth to produce what I thought was finally an acceptable Ring. Tried the same again and it seemed reproduceable and acceptable.

So ... when it came to the Engines I tried a similar process with an appropriate sized Tube but after sanding the interior I sanded the exterior to a bit of a conical shape before sawing off. As I mentioned I also wasn't happy with the angle of the Intake Ring so sanding it a bit helped "land" the Ring onto to Airfix Engine. I've only just bogged them up after that so yet to sand them to see how it looks so it could still be a total (well maybe not total) disaster so don't go taking my word for it just yet!
