1/32 A6M5c hasegawa older kit

A place for our military aviation modellers to show their stuff. It may not be civil but it still has a home here

i've been working on that for a while...it's the old hasegawa 1/32 kit with the metal upgrade version with diacast cowl undercarriage legs doors and a few other parts.....but no wheels so it now has a stunning set of Eduard wheels(glad i got the kit for free)..so i thought i's experiment with it ...i've never done much weathering or even a wash ......so whole hog i went in.....and well i went a little over the top on the underside

but after taliking to a couple of membersof my model club i toned it down a little.

so all that needs doing is painting the spinner and she's done(oh and an aerial)

it's been a great learning project......more pics to come once the spinner is painted.

A magnificent result on the old Hasegawa kit Paul. What upper green colour did you use?
Thumbs up from me for an all round top effort. Weathering is great, certainly not overdone.
Then again you know I'm biased towards anything Japanese.

thanks guys...Wayne it's IJN green XF11...it may be a bit dark on a late war plane but it's what i had on the shelf....the only money i have spent on this is the stunning Eduard wheels.

Thanks Paul. I use Model Master enamels IJAAF Green usually lightened or straight from the bottle after thinning.
Your green looks very close to the colour photos I have of late war Japanese aircraft taken after occupation.

If you're encompassing everything Mitsubishi Rob, then I'll have to disagree. Their aircraft division make nice products normally as is their air conditioners. Both by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
After having three of their cars I will never buy another one. I've nothing but scorn for the service departments I've had to deal with and one of them is quite close to you on the QLD coast.
Them and another outlet make The Great Train Robbery Gang and Ned Kelly look like mere bumbling amateurs. Plus after contacting the Mitsubishi Australian Head Office with evidence of misconduct,
I was told verbatim "tell someone who cares" and then hung up on. So I don't intend to ever give them another chance at emptying my wallet.

Every time I look at your Zero Paul it gets better and better. I will always admire the Zero, they got that one seriously right.

Wayne.

PS. Sorry Paul for detouring from your original post a wee bit and my little rant.

so as i said earlier its the older Hasegawa A6M5c grade up kit with metal cowl...undercarriage gear doors and a few other bits....the kit shows it's age but builds into a fine model.
the markings are for an A5M5c flown by Saburu Sakai in 1945
