I am back at the bench after 8 months

One of my long term stalled projects is this magna models resin 1/48 Dove..hate the bloody thing, got the tail feathers on all nice and square, filled most of the pinholes.. still more to do..

any one see an itty bitty problem?

I am going to have to pick one "most correct" wing root location then cut out and sculpt the other one to match. This is not going to be a fine model (not that any of mine are really), it is going to go on a stand, wheels-up..
MacRobertson Miller Airlines VH-MMN "Nullagine" is the plan

Welcome back! Thanks for all the great photos.

Has the Fuselage got a twist in it? If so have you tried putting it in hot water to get rid of the twist?

From Wikipedia :

"Initial production of the Dove was performed at de Havilland's Hatfield factory, but from the early 1950s onwards, the majority of aircraft were built at the company's Broughton facility near Chester."

Maybe Magna thought de Havilland built the Port side at one Factory and the Starboard side at the other Factory and never the twain did talk (or compare measurements)!

Well, I was not gonna let this bastard beat me, the bloody thing kept me away from the bench long enough! My missus has gone off to the UK for 2 months so, alone I manned up, entered the garage and face the demon.

I sawed off the right wing root., built up and reshaped the fuselage bottom with apoxie sculpt. filled 268 x 10 cubed friggin pin holes sanded etc infinitum.

II took the port wing to be true and glued that on, then worked to attach the right wing symmetrical to the left, twice! I had to amputate my first effort and try again! now the dove almost square in every aspect... or more accurately it is slightly wonky in every aspect, one engine is slightly forward of the other one wing root is slightly different to the other, I primed to show the flaws and several pinholes appeared thankfully fewer than a thousand. I was gonna do it as an MMA Charter VH-MMN "Nullagine" but it just will not wear silver (that shows every flaw) well so I am undecided what to do with it.

I was going to suggest the "Penguin Express", VH-ABM, but that has different engines..

How about VH-RCI of South Australian Air Taxis?

There was also a Dove at Kyneton when I was learning to fly....can't think of the rego for the life of me, though..
Pretending to do it TAC style with the big boys since 1987
Also, we don't need no steenkin' VLATs!

Looks like the tide is turning in your favour Wal, you can beat this! :D

Looks like one of my resin build efforts when there is nothing wrong with the kit.

Progress at least, looked at Magna kits back about 2005 at Telford, decided they weren't for me
