When I started making airliner models I kept the windows open and filled them with PVA glue at the end of the process. The trouble was, they didn't look very realistic in 1/144. My experience is that decals of windows give a better representation of what you see in 1/144 and that's why I use them. The other problem is that many kits, Minicraft for example, doing provide windows and making them in 1/144 would be all but impossible.

The XF-80 looks good Paul.

If you are referring to the corogard inspar colour the I would suggest Tamiya Metallic Grey (XF56) lightened to your preference with a lightish grey.

Thanks for the XF-56 suggestion. I'll give it a try too.

so i have had a disaster with the 737....the decals i planned to use are crap....so thick they wont conform the shape for the model no matter how much decal softener i use....so back to finding a scheme with out a wholesale repaint.....so has anyone bought or used Lima November decals?

The corogard turned out nice Paul. Pity about the issue with the decals.

Are were using the Old Models decals? I have a couple of their sheets.

As for Lima November Decals, I have one of their Norwegian 737-8 sheets. They are nicely printed and look nice and thin. There are a few nice builds on BritModeller using them.

I can dig them out and have a good look at them if you want and report back.

Also, Ruben at Lima November is very approachable, I asked about creating a sheet on non-LN rego Norweigan Shuttle 737s sheet and within a couple of months had released one (which I now have).
