I see what you mean about the landing light. I'm not sure if I will adjust it on the model.

Again I appreciate your help.

Made small progress tonight. Installed the front gear well with the weight on top. Not sure how much I need. Too much might break the flimsy resin gear struts.

Engines nacelles attached to the wing. Lots of filler required.

And the tailplane glued together. What's the contraption? It's a jig designed for model car wings to keep everything straight. Thought I would use it here and it worked out ok. The silver part near the tail helps in ligning up the vertical tail to the horizontal tail.

Bit slow going but the last week the fuselage halves were glued together. The wings were attached today. I used metal rods to stiffen the join.

The tail assembly was also attached today.

The balsa wood was a jig I made to keep the wings at the required dihedral.

The next step will be to smooth out the wing fuselage joins. Once that has been done I will move onto the cockpit.

Work is slow on this one. Not sure if it will be Expo ready.
So the past week I have been working on the cockpit. All you get in the kit is two seats and a bad photocopy decal of the instrument panel.

So decided the jazz up the interior a little bit. I know that you would probably not see much once the vacform canopy piece is on. But at least it is in there and would look better than just plain. I used an old PE fret from an Eduard 1/72 C-130 update set. Here is a close up. The grey areas below are what go over the black piece above. As it is the c-130 panel is too long for the kit. So I cut off the bank of engine guages on the black area.

I then put these black areas behind the grey parts. It gives the panel some depth. I then drilled holes where the Yokes would go and scratched built them. I used an old 737 gear strut from the 1/144 Revell kit. They didn't work out the best but painted black you wont know (well you do now!).

The I decided to put in a throttle quadrant. So I used another part of the C-130 panel, bent it into shape and used the throttles from the PE fret as is.

Seats were painted and I used thin stripes from the PE fret for seat belts. Painted them black and scratched off some paint at the tips for the buckles.

A problem I encounted were the masks supplied for the cockpit windows. The triangle window is meant to be a lot smaller. So I cut the mask in half. It's not as round but I couldn't be bothered trying to cut a very small round shape. You can see the masks on the vac from canopy behind. It took ages to cut, sand, fit, refit etc. Ther are some gaps that I hope the glue will fill.

Next up is attaching the vac from, the winglets and test fitting the aerodynamic dongles before painting. These will need to be installed after painting and decalling.

Nice work so far Tony , looking good . I am looking forward to seeing this painted , will be interested to hear what you think of the decals . I brought the new 777-200 scheme from him a week ago , nice sheet apart from the fern leaf which seems to be very thick .......almost like a mask !! ( maybe it is ) I will have to have a closer look . Anyway .......keep at it Tony

By the way .......one of the worst aircraft in the world to refuel , due to bladder tanks in the wing .......very ,very slow .

I think the decals are going to be thick. I read online someone had trouble with them on the A320. We'll see how we go.

Righto, winglets are on and I did a quick primer to check the connecting points. Requires some liquid putty around the vacform cockpit area. Also notice small pin holes in the resin which I didn't see before. So they are now filled.

Next step is to sand down the puttied areas. Mask the passenger windows and put on one more coat of primer before we start on the colours.
