Wings Scale Aircraft Model Competition and Exhibition

Postby _BlackHawk_ » Sat May 24, 2014 5:54 pm

Wings will be on this year at the Australian National Aviation Museum (Moorabbin Air Museum), Second Avenue, Moorabbin Airport Mentone, October 25th and 26th. Both the museum and model show are under new management and direction.

I'll have more details soon regarding categories etc, along with a few special announcements. The museum will have a stand at Model Expo, displaying a Sunderland gun turret and Mosquito fin among other things. Stop by and say hi.

Best Enemy aircraft? Kinda rules out a whole lot of stuff, don't it?

Had to make a choice on the specials Cap'n as budgets are aren't unlimited. We could have done best allied instead of best Australian, but the museum is the finest collection of Australian designed and built aircraft anywhere in the world. Best enemy is meant to balance it out a little and for a small show, you don't want too many best of awards. But, if things go well who knows, there is always room to add a little.

It's all for a good cause though.

An aircraft of a nation that is or was a enemy of Australia and/or it's allies. Go build a captured Bf 109 in American markings or a captured B-17 in Luftwaffe markings if you want to get creative, those would qualify as an enemy aircraft, just like a German marked Bf 109 or a Japanese Zero with red dots.

I know there are grey areas, but most modellers don't get too out of the norm. If they did, it would be excellent to see and the decision is up to the chief judge whether or not to consider that model for that trophy. Since I know him well and he's reasonably well read, I don't think there is a problem.
