Good progress young fella. Equally as intriguing and fascinating are the two WW1 fighters in the background. Off topic I know, but what's the story with them?

Basic painting done.

Just been testing a few colours as I hate line type decals, I will probably mask and paint the cheat line. So far Middle Stone is looking like the closet match.

Just to prove to TOR that modelling doesn't necessarily have to be done at the bench... (you know what I'm talking about..)
A replacement 737-200 windscreen plug measured from another that I have. So now I have two on the go :)

Well, I've had an interesting evening.

First off, cheat line painted nicely and gloss on. Going well so far. As I said, I hate large and/or long decals.

Image

Decals, well as you can see, most of them I had no issues with, then I tried the tail. You see I'd painted the leading edge, the plan was to put the decal slightly back so the leading edge showed....and then as I was moving the decal, it started to crack......then shatter....then f@%%^$king hell I'm left with this.

Image

I HATE DECALS. So what the hell am I going to do now, every time I tried to move it a little more shattered off. I broke out the airbrush and tried to blow it off, that worked, as it kept shedding bits, I dumped it in some water, swore a bit more, had a drink and pondered. I still had the other tail decal but it was gold, not yellow, but I decided to quickly mask up the tail and spray middle stone, at this stage I was kicking myself that I didn't get two sets of this sheet.

Image

Right, despite my airbrush wanting to spatter water, I got it done in 5 minutes. Now my poor decal was sitting in some cold water on a plate. I let the tail dry for a couple of minutes in front of some heat then carefully took the decal out of the water, carefully with a super sharp pair of mini sicssors I trimmed the ratty edges, then with a damp brush I pressed the decal down. I think, I might have just saved this. I'm keeping an eye on it to make sure it doesn't try to roll up, but the paint was slightly tacky still so hopefully it sticks.

Image

...and then I put a finger print on the engine cowling....god damn it. Well at least I didn't do anything to the other side of the tail.

Funny that you write that as I was going to post this afternoon that at the princely sum of one Pound sixty-six (or suxty-sux for our UnZud readers) Pence it would be worth getting a few spare sheets in case you have trouble however I'm trying not to post until my kit/s arrive.

I'm about to order a few things from Hannants - do you want me to order you another sheet just in case?

I've had a look at it this morning, it didn't lift off so I should be ok, cheers for the offer. I've coated the other decal in some liquid decal film, I'll wait until that dries and trim it.
