OK, seeing as everyone is off building 737's I thought I would just do something different, so am going to do a pair of Airfix DC9's

Small amount done, windows filled, doors all added, and wings together and trailing edges sanded down

Thanks Rob, I noticed Graeme's comment over on BM after I posted this. Runway 13 has a bunch of curved seam scraping tools that may be handy for scraping out the groove.

Yes, adding the lobe crease, and currently fixing the nose

I use superglue as it sets quicker and allows for the impatient modeller

You can clearly tell I don't spend a lot of time setting up to take photographs but if you squint a bit you can see the crease

I went and bought some of those RCI Clear Cockpits

designed for a different kit, but would probably fit, but I decided I would try my had at doing this myself, as I know what the nose of an DC9/MD80/MD90/MD95 looks like
Plan is to use Authentic Airliner decals for the windows and cockpit

OK, moving right along I forgot to mention I have this a reference

Now Airfix went and did the engine pylon half on the engine and half on the fuselage, stupid
I find it best for me to take it off the engine, which is a whole lot easier than taking it off the fuselage

I use a scribing tool and sharp knife, takes no time at all

Join the bits together, and attach to the fuselage, much easier to sand down

Now on the fuselage there is a cabin pressure equilization vent on the port side, it's quite a large hole, with a round flap that closes it up by turning through 90 deg, I forgot to drill this out on the first one, and as it will need something to blank off behind it, it won't get one, need to make a round piece to go in the hole with a hinge in the middle of it

You may be able to see the lobe crease on this photo, silver plastic doesn't show much

I never thought of cutting the pylon part off the engine, stealing that trick for my next DC-9 build.
