ACAM Challenge Build?

Postby BradG » Fri Jun 15, 2018 7:31 pm

Some of you might know that a few of the guys in IPMS hold a challenge build each year where they pick a kit and all build it, then compare points scored at Expo to see who's won that year. Sometimes it's in their interests, other times it's outside all their interests. Next year I believe it's WW1 tanks in 1/35 as I saw Mic buying one at the swap and sell.

Is anyone keen for this here? Basically we agree on a kit to build or something similar in a determined scale ie; 737's in 1/400 and we all enter them next year. Only condition would be a kit that is easily available and not that expensive.

Is anyone keen?

Sounds like a plan Brad, I would be nice to see a few of the same airliner or civil aircraft kit in different liveries.

That sounds very interesting....and it maybe just what I need to pull my finger out.
I would be up for a 1:144 737 as the subject, (perhaps the Airfix 1:144 Boeing 737-200 as they are readily available and cheap, with a wide variety of colour schemes also available), but I am obviously open to other suggestions.

PS: Damo and I did it almost by accident this year with the Airfix 1:72 BN Islander :D

I was thinking, did anyone buy one of the Zvezda $25 airliners from Expo at Models and Hobbies 4U? They are still on sale; A-321, A-320, 767-300, 787-8, 787-9 all in 1/144.

As Brad said, they're still available. Here's the link https://www.modelsandhobbies4u.com.au/catalogue/category/eofy-sale-items I'm up to 2 x 777, 3 x 767-300, 1 x 787-8, 1 x 787-9 and a 747-8 in Zvezda.

Ray's, do either of you have any of these kits that Paul does? I don't so happy to get which ever kit all 3 of you have.

I still think we should settle on the Airfix 1:144th 737-200......cheap as chips, and so much variety to choose from, (and all my Zvezda kits are ear-marked for other projects).
