Tyabb 2018

Postby Adam the Akrodude » Tue Mar 27, 2018 12:54 pm

Hi folks

Finally posting some pic's from Tyabb this year. It was great to once again see the Hudson flying and always a pleasure seeing the Mk.VIII Spitty as well. Light was terrible as it was largely overcast and shooting towards the western sun, yet I tried my best!

So here goes.

Thanks Adam for posting a great collection of photos. Much appreciated and there's nothing wrong with any of those photos mate even with the poor light.

Cheers, Wayne.

Hi Wayne

It's a pleasure to post these pic's for all you A/CAM'ers who couldn't make the air show for a variety of reasons. It admittedly is getting a bit pricy as I took two of my kids. They had a ball as did dad though! Fav for me was seeing the Hudson as it's so historically important. I'm overwhelmed by the bravery of those RAAF crews during the early stage of the Pacific war was Japan was steam rolling its way down across Malaya, Indonesia and PNG. The display pilot really knew what he was doing presenting the aeroplane perfectly for we earth bound photographers (and hacks like me!).

The entry queues were pretty long for both pre-paid and entry pay. It was a orderly, safe and well run air show, so all in all I was impressed. I'll be there next time in 2 years!

Cheers

Adam

I agree with Wayne, thanks for posting these. It looks like there was some lovely machinery there and all in very good condition. I agree with you about the Hudson, and the Wirraway - brave isn't strong enough word. For my money those P-51s still look very nice. I bet they sounded good too.

My pleasure to post these Leigh. Yep, I'm moved beyond words can describe the complete heroism of those crews during that early period of the Pacific war. The Cat crews had massive brass ones as well. Many of those early solo recon missions over Japanese bases like Rabaul were essentially suicide missions.
Yes, the engine sound was terrific - in particular that mass formation with the Hudson, Mustangs, Spitfire, etc. That little mini Mustang sounds totally incredible. I think it has a Chev 454 engine from memory.

On my wish list to see flying is that Fw-190 and the Hurricane - then I'll have achieved true aero-sexual enlightenment! :D
