Hmmm. not sure about the only privately owned flyable F-4, what about the Collings Foundation F-4D?

And the Text says the Airframe is "currently 80-85% completed" and the Engines "to be overhauled" so it ain't flyable yet!

For those of us who prefer our Phantoms in the Navy way this F4H-1F would be preferable. And I reckon that if I could afford the asking price I could probably afford to get the engines seen to as well. As for flying it, how much does fuel for it cost again? That would be like setting fire to money, and don't even think about turning on those afterburners.

Well if you paid Tax back in the early Seventies a portion of that was paying for the RAAF F-4E Fuel Bill so can say you have already have paid for some of the Fuel for a Phantom.

Gotta use A/B on take off - unless one is using a really long runway. I reckon Collings Foundation has a LOT of money. They wanted to get a F-105 flying as well - pity the USAF didn't share their enthusiasm and cut the spars and spiked the engines of the remaining airframes that could of been used to get one F-105 flying again. :-(
