QF Bae HS125

Postby hrtpaul » Mon Apr 14, 2014 9:43 pm

I just picked up an Airfix 1/72 HS Dominie Tmk1. I was wondering what changes might be needs to make it a QF jet with these decals http://www.hawkeyemodels.com.au/pop-up- ... DS-099.htm I'll know I'll have to blank a pax window on the LH fuse and add 1 on the RH side. These are the only things I know about so any help would be appreciated :)

looks like you dont need to blank any on VH-ECE...and maybe VH-ECE.....BUT the DC A VH-CAO is a very different kettle of fish....all of them are nice.
well i was wrong........maybe VH-CAO would be easier........the Qantas birds have the cockpit configured the same as the 707's...not sure about the cabins though.

how about a nice black one.......

I have a kit earmarked for VH-CAO one day.. haven't done any research on that yet re any conversions required actually got an Airfix and a Matchbox version.

The boxing is actually a black one. As cool as but I'd like to do a QF one. I'll definitely have to blank and add windows as the one in the kit has 6 windows on the left and 4 on the right. I think the engines will be fine so it might just be the windows and a few antenna that'll need fixing :)

It looks like a typical early Airfix kit but I reckon it'll be fun. I'm gonna have to contact Hawkeye soon so I can hopefully pick up a few decal sheets at expo :)

Like Wally I have my Airfix HS-125 earmarked for the DCA VH-CAO. It was the first aeroplane I ever flew in, a highly enjoyable experience. Haven't done too much research on it. I also have a F-28 reserved for DofA markings. I guess that somebody else doesn't make decals for them I'll have to, one of these days. That's what comes for spending a couple of decades working DCA, SoT and DofA.

Welcome F27 pax , I'm thinking you might of known Les Harbottle from Essendon all those years ago . I work with him at MEL airport , funny man the old Les.

You can get decals for the F-27 VH-CAT which operated out of Essendon , in 1/72 scale , it is the CSRIO scheme I think . You may be able to work then into a DofA scheme some how .
