OK.....so, change of plan.
The AM JT9s I was going to use for this project are no longer an option as they are apparently intended for a 747 SP, which of course has a different engine pylon design, (yeah.....it is noticeable when you compare them).
Back to the kit engines.
On another note.....I am looking for suggestions for the best paints to use for the highly polished natural metal finish, (see photos on first page). I have the Alclad II range, but is there something better in other people's opinions and experiences ???
Ray.S, what are you planning on using with your NASA bird???.

I have a bunch of Testors Metalisers for mine. Not sure how shiny it will be.

P.S. I will be posting the gear bits this week. Got bogged down with other things (Sorry).

Yep.....that's the level of finish I am after

A bottle of alclad goes pretty far. just remember to get the surface prepared perfectly, a beautifully smooth gloss black gloss coat and gloves.

The gloves are actually a very good suggestion.
If I could get the big, ol 747-100 to the same level of consistent highly-polished NM finish as that on Paul's Mustang prop blades......I will be VERY happy!!!

I used Modelmaster gloss black under the chrome Alclad for that prop. The prop was also resin so very smooth to start with. Go to Bunnings and get a few tack rags to wipe over the model before spraying to remove any dust tha'll show up like dogs nuts under the chrome. There's a speck of dust in the bottom r/h blade towards the tip if you look closely
