DesTROYers 1/48 RAN Grumman S-2G Tracker

A place for our military aviation modellers to show their stuff. It may not be civil but it still has a home here

Very nice. Makes one want to have a go at the Hasegawa/Idea kit although it would never turn out as nice as your effort.

Just a ting update. I assembled and painted the Torpedoes.

Still needs a little work on the tail and parachute section. I can't find a decent photo of how it should be. May have to wing it.

Its been almost three months since the last update. As reported elsewhere in my review of the decals, they arrived last week, so I spent the day applying them to the model. Doing so has brought to light a few mistakes and errors I made with the build, such as the air intakes on the engine nacelles. Im sure I followed reference drawings somewhere when I placed the resin replacements, but when putting the walkway decals on, I found they were too far back. As I was applying the one piece decal by slicing it up into more manageable pieces, I just cut them to suit.

I'm a bid disappointed with myself that I didn't work harder to fill the seam between the cockpit piece and the fuselage as the joint mars an other wise nice build. I'm about to head back into the office to clear coat the Mustang, then I'll get back on to decaling the stencils on the underside of this.

All the decals are now applied and settling. I have also fitted the spotlight, Props and Torpedo. The Torpedo bay has been a bit disappointing. I used some Edward PE to do it up a bit. Didn't know that would mean that both Torpedos would not fin in the bay anymore. Oh well live and learn. I'll seal the decals tomorrow once the setting solution has done its job.

If you're wondering why I chose 854, its simple. They're my alpha numeric initials. 854 = TJH on a phone keypad.

A work of art Troy, that is one very nice model. I would be proud to have that one on my shelves.
Cheers
