this has been an ongoing projecty for the last couple of months in between doing mustangs....and the occasional Japanese plane.
it's the AMT P40N...but i had to source the earlier styled canopy, the kit has all the correct fuselage parts but not the canopy..luckily i have friends it seems.
i bought the DK decals P40 sheet awhile ago and have built one plane from it already(P40n-5 "svengali"),but i really wanted to do this one as the real plane is restored and flying in canada(albeit in an RCAF desert scheme as "stocky"Edwards plane).
so during the build i found a few differences of opinion on the indevidual code of the plane and also the colour scheme, but after some research i decided to go with the RAAF foliage green/raan dark earth over RAAF sky and the L indevidual code..
the wavy white leading edges are to represent that they were probably freehand painted(the overspray on the fuselage is seen one photo's of the real plane)
the spinner was also painted white later on
i've started playing around with weathering on it
this is where it is at the moment as i await a replacment decal sheet as i stuffed up the nose art.
