I don't know about him being 'reclusive' - some of these models have been displayed in IPMS shows in the south of England. I believe he is/was an IPMS UK member.
Brilliant models, even discounting the auctioneer's hype.
You would think a museum might be interested.
Some of them have been listed on Ebay at reasonable prices. Example
