it's one of the spitfires that were shipped to nearby Malta and then flown off the carrier USS Wasp...the blue top surfaces were done to camouflage them as they flew to the island over the Mediterranean,once there the second pair of cannons were removed to improve performance and they took their place in the defense of Malta from the axis forces.
the kit is the Special hobby 1/48 MKvc and for a short run one it's not to bad (it's also boxed by italeri)....a bit of work here and there but overall not a bad kit.
