A place for our military aviation modellers to show their stuff. It may not be civil but it still has a home here

my latest finished model is of the well known post war tested A6M5 ..captured on Saipan in 1944 and transported back to the US along with a number of other zero's and tested extensively (close to 100 hours flying time in allied hands )
it was paint strips and flown in various markings till it was retired.

and with a few other 1/48 zero's i have built

the kit is the new tool tamiya one that is an absolute joy to build...the only problems were caused by my own hands...the detail is stunning
the decals are a mix of Tamiya A6M2 and tamiya P51 with the tail art and fuselage band by our own Cap'n Wannabe and worked great
and the real one

as an interesting epilogue 3 airframes from the Saipan group still survive...including this one at the Smithsonian.
