RB-51 Red Baron Album

Postby Adam the Akrodude » Mon May 05, 2014 1:37 pm

I've uploaded some RB-51 photos into an album as a few of us will be attempting to do justice at some stage to Paul Fisher's brilliant 1/32 work of art of this aeroplane. Feel free to upload any other photos found on this amazing aeroplane.

Only one vital piece of kit missing from the Red Baron.

A zero-zero ejection seat.

Hot dawgy!.. Nice..
It's hard for me to get used to these changing times... I remember when the air was clean and the sex was dirty..

Awesome mate. I like how the manifold pressure gauge goes all the way to 150 inches Hg. Kinda like 11 on a Marshall guitar amp :)

Dat's some kinda BOOST! Mind blowing isn't it! Imagine pushing the go level forward controlling 3000HP!

I've read some combat reports of USAAF P-51's chasing down Me-262's way back when, pumping out 66" and destroying the poor little Merlin in the process (in comparison to a Griffin). Must get to Reno one day!

The Mustang I went for a ride in at Caboolture was limited to 41" IIRC due to the 100LL fuel being used :)

I read somewhere that a Merlin o/haul is something like $100k USD, not incl. freight costs. That's serious bread. So no wonder Merlin owners are real conservative with engine use. Merlins don't really grow on trees sadly. Supposed to be a few buried up at Tocumal though!
