Being now so rare, it's indeed sad to see this once big ol' smokin' Rhino in such a dreadful state. The owners/caretakers could at the very least put a decent tarp over the top of it completely. That is a very crap way to store a aeroplane.
Speaking with a museum curator that F-4C is a huge embarrassment to them and they would rather not have it! It was given to them sight unseen when it arrived they saw it was gutted and the wings had been chain sawed off. Every American visitor (and F-4 tragic) they get give them much stick over he state of this airframe. They cant even use the front end as a cockpit display. So I was thinking if I had it I'd get the tailplanes and get them made into large coffee tables..what else could we do with it?
At the risk of being called a heretic and be burnt at the stake if it's that bad just part it out and melt it for the metal and put the money towards building a hangar to get the "good" one under cover and look after it!
