Still having not gotten over my fear of Boeing 707 engine pylons I decided to start on the 'Next Big Project' which is a set of all the Douglas airliners - in Australian or NZ colours where possible. So, starting with the DC-2 I'm hopeful of making two, the Bungana in 1/72 using the MPM kit and the Kyeema in 1/144 using the CMR kit. Here's where I've got to so far:
The main job so far has been in hunting down photos of the Bungana and Kyeema on the interweb, and there are enough to give me a good idea that this isn't going to be difficult. But I do have one question which one of our august members might be able to help me with - what font is the registration in? Here's a photo to help.
About the only way to tell which airline the Bungana was flying for at the time is by the house flag on the tail, but since there is no house flag in this photo I'm wondering if it was taken before the aeroplane arrived in Australia. Of course, the Kyeema was originally owned by Airlines of Australia (you can tell this by the name) but by the time it crashed it was flying for ANA so I will probably make it in that scheme (such as it is).
I can generate most of the markings I need from my computer and printer, but if somebody happens to know what font the registration was painted in that will save me a great deal of hunting.
