And here's what was in the latest package from overseas. I've been looking for a DH-9 (Not one of those stupid looking DH-9As) for some time and while I was looking around the estore I found these others. Have I no self control? 'Nope', apparently. Particularly like those UAVs, no cockpits to worry about.

Yep, 1/100.

And in the complete opposite to Henry Ford, you can get it in just about any colour EXCEPT black!

Can only hope that Tamiya release some more in 1:100 but I'm not holding my breath as I heard that this one was a case of producing a kit to make made up models for someone and then deciding later to release it as a kit so doesn't sound like they have any real plan for other releases ...?

Last w/e I had Sat arvo off as the family went to a show in town I flat out refused to attend - a man has to make a stand! So, had about three hours to wander around the city. I found the latest location for Hylands bookshop - at the old Midcity cinema complex in Bourke St. You go up the escalator then a flight of stairs and there it is. Kinda weird looking at books on a bit of a angle as the bookshop was once a cinema. Anyhoo, I found two absolute pearlers of books.

Vultures Row by Adm. Paul Gilchrist. This author is fantastic as he was a US Naval aviator during that golden period of the 50's to the 70's. He's written a number of books and I have his F-8 book which is outstanding. I'm very much enjoying this book of his regarding naval aviation mishaps he's either been involved with, witnessed or knows of. https://www.amazon.com/Vultures-Row-Aviation-Schiffer-Military/dp/0764300474/ref=pd_bxgy_14_img_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=6YA95SBJ6269VKDG2Z13

Second book I purchased was a old copy of Bill Bridgeman's book "The Lonely Sky". Bridgeman was a ex-naval aviator who went on to work for Douglas as a test pilot and flew the D-558-11. I've read this book before, but did not have a copy so snapped this one up. For those interested in test pilot stuff, there's a LOT more than the "story" written by Tom Wolfe in his portrayal of this type of the human species in "The Right Stuff".

Had time to check out one hobby store and bought nothing - how good am I - a true pillar of self-restraint! :D

Compared to Ray's lot, mine is quite modest
All bought last weekend at QMHE in Ipswich

Image

From top left
Top Row CA accelerator, Vallejo Metal finish, Acrylic filler, quick release fitting for airbrush
2nd Row Yahu instrument panel for |Mirage III, various thin tapes
3rd row replacement Tamiya tape
bottom only new kit purchase in a very long time

Thought maybe it should go on the "you lot are boring" thread, but as that is out in the bush somewhere whacking snakes and spiders, maybe not
