Incredible to think that a stablemate of these aeroplanes built back in the early 60's will be flying for potentially another 30+ years - the big ol' BUFF B-52! Standing underneath the open bomb bay chatting to a young B-52 Nav about "Dr. Strangelove" resulted in a pretty bizarre feeling at the time, realising these bombers built before I was born, could potentially outlast my lifetime! F-35s soon to enter service here will outlast my lifetime -

And is that a Convair 990 I see to the right of the picture? That's lasted a while?

The Convair 990 is actually owned by one of the aircraft scarpers,that's why it has survived so long Leigh. I think his name was J .Scorggins . He has saved a few airframes now , as he realises the significance of them . Not to many 990s around these days !!
